What I'm Playing This Weekend
By Andrew
One of my favourite topics of discussion in the gaming world is digging in to the games people are currently playing. Be this on a podcast, reddit or comment sections it’s always fascinating to hear people’s thoughts on the games they’re playing, what they like, what they don’t. Often you hear about games of interest that you know you’ll never play yourself. People also give insight into how they structure their gaming plans, how they deal with playing multiple titles concurrently (or not) or why they’ve chosen a given console for a cross platform release.
As I contemplate what I might write about on this blog, or indeed the chances of this project taking off, I figure why not start off with a subject I’ve already been writing about.
With that in mind, what follows is a copy of a comment I wrote yesterday on Nintendo Life with this weekend’s snapshot of my gaming life.
I finished Fire Emblem Engage last night. What a brilliant game. I loved the return to the more classic format, the Engage system, the map design and the music. Easily better than Three Houses for me (which I also liked). Up there with Fates/Shadows Of Valentia. The story is pretty predictable and verbose at times, though even that was OK. I still have a few Paralogues and one Divine Prologue to play, which I might dig into when the story expansion comes out.
As for what’s next, well it’s Metroid Prime. It’s come out at pretty much the perfect time for me. I’ve never played it before and a few hours in I’m very impressed with how they translated Metroid into 3D. This is old news but now I’ve seen it myself I can really believe it. I also have the new Xenoblade 3 DLC waiting too but I may also save that as a warm up for the upcoming story expansion. I still have Live A Live waiting too.
I’d really like to continue Crisis Core on PS5 and start Star Ocean The Divine Force on Series X but it seems those consoles are fated to remain in sleep mode for a little while longer.
